War Veteran Project:
Student Interviews a Living U.S. War Veteran and either:
1) Writes an Essay summarizing the interview (Division 10-25)
2) Makes a History Display Board summarizing the interview (Division 60-25)
3) Gives a Speech on Fair Day Morning summarizing the interview (Division 25-25)
To encourage participation in these special projects and reward students for
“stepping outside their comfort zones”, each students who submits a project in these new categories and includes all the required elements, will receive a special incentive prize (to be announced), and a special patriotic ribbon will be attached to their displayed project.
To qualify for Special Incentive Prizes, project must include:
1) Basic facts about interviewed veteran and his/her war experience:
Who, What, Where, Why, When, How... etc.
2) Retell a significant account from the veteran's war experience.
3) How did the veteran's war experience impact him or her?
4) How did listening to the veteran's war experience impact the student? What
did the student find to be particularly interesting, inspiring, intriguing...?

A living United States War Veteran who served in any of the following wars:
World War II (1941-1945)
Korean War (1950-1953)
Vietnam War (1964-1975)
Gulf War (1990-1991) Desert Storm and Desert Shield
Global War on Terror (Oct. 2001-present)
Includes: Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan)
Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq)
